LC3

The Life Course Research Laboratory (LC3) is one of the research laboratories of the Department of Sociology and Social Research within the framework "Departments of Excellence" by the Italian Ministry of Education and Research (2024-2027).

LC3 is dedicated to exploring the intricacies of social risks and inequalities across individuals' lifespans. Grounded in a multidisciplinary framework, our research delves into various life domains including education, employment, family dynamics, and health. We analyze how transitions and trajectories are stratified along lines of class, gender, ethnicity, geography, and other pertinent factors within contemporary societies.

Employing advanced statistical techniques applied to longitudinal survey data, administrative records, and experimental methodologies, the LC3 rigorously investigates these dynamics. Our research designs are meticulously crafted to balance high internal validity with external applicability, ensuring a nuanced comprehension of complex social phenomena. Additionally, our comparative approach allows for an exploration of the role of institutions and the efficacy of policies, enabling the formulation of evidence-based policy recommendations.

Through leveraging the extensive national and international network of our members, the LC3 is committed to advancing this research agenda and contributing to the development of impactful solutions to societal challenges.
